This is the character Kodama from the ecchi anime, Maken-Ki, which I did a review of recently.
I can't sell this one in any way, because it's fan art, so enjoy, but like the others, it did receive a couple of nice kudos, such as being included in the Elite-Girls gallery, as well as the Inkscapers gallery.
I hope everyone had a good holiday season, and rang in the New Year with a bit of holiday ANGST. I can't image what that may be, but I'll never tell. Anyway, all I can say is, I hope you all had a blast.
So, the new year is upon us, and it's time for the new years resolutions. Well, I've made mine, but since I'm also not much for keeping them, I'll also be keeping them to myself. Anyway, sufficed to say, they're pretty amazing, if I do say so myself.
I'm very much looking forward to 2015, and I've gotten off to a brilliant start. I published a new piece of art to my gallery on DeviantArt. You can see the a clip of the pic to the right. I've also, got a few more things queued up, and on the way. So, stay tuned.
Something else I've got on my radar is, I'd like to review some of the favorite, and not so favorite anime series. I've got a number of them in mind, but I couldn't think of a better place to start than my TOP 5 ECCHI ANIMES!
I'll start from number 5, later this week, and continue on until I've reached my all-time (so far, that is) ecchi anime, "High School DxD."
Being that I'll be starting with ecchi, my review won't be the same as other anime reviews. I'd like to take it from a different angle. The criteria will include amount of ecchi, usage of ecchi, chemistry of characters and dialogue, art of course, sexual tension and the story itself.
I think you're going to love it!

It's come to my attention that I've been living under a rock lately. Not literally, but I'm definitely out of the loop. For one thing. I used to be a big writer for the online blogging community Squidoo, but now, as it is, that no longer exists.
WHAT!!! WHAT YOU SAY?!? Yes, it's true, Squidoo is no more.
Squidoo was bought out by, HubPages, its closest competitor, and I am now a writer for them. Hey, what do you know!
HubPages is fairly similar to Squidoo, in that it allows almost anyone to sign up for an account, and begin writing articles right away. The only difference that I can see, is that they have a few more rules concerning Amazon links, and to earn money, you have to have your own Adsense account.
I guess, in a way, that puts the ownership of quality on the writers, rather than the editors.
Anyway, that's fine. I don't much care where I get to write, as long as I get to keep doing it.
Actually, I was lying about being under a rock. I knew it was all happening, several weeks ago, and I've been preparing for the move. I just kind of placed myself under a rock until the dust settled, that's all.
Sword Six Concept
Anyway, I haven't been concentrating on my writing, lately, and instead, I've been able to concentrate on what I really love, and that's on drawing. The first thing I did, was a concept sketch of Sword Six. Check out my DeviantArt Gallery for a better look at it.
I'm really happy with how it came out, not just by the standard stance, but I've been studying a lot of manga and anime lately, and I decided to change up his armor, and I put a lot into the horse tail from the back of his mask. I think it came out great.
The second big thing I did, was my first big animation effort. It an animated short of my newest character, named "Coot." He's a pervy old man who can't be bothered by the rest of the world, unless that involves some young girl in a short skirt.

I'm proud of the animation, because it's my first, but more importantly, I did it all with freeware applications, such as InkScape, Synfig Studios and Audacity. So, I'm extra special proud of all the work I put in. It took several weeks from story-boarding to finally uploading it to YouTube.
After a good bit of thought, I've finally decided to ditch cable and go for the Roku. WHAT?!? You've never heard of a Roku? Well let me tell you a little about it.
A Roku is a magical device that hooks to your TV, that allows you to stream shows over the internet directory to your screen. You can use the AV cable that comes with it, or buy a HDMI cable, and watch in HD. These things are great.
Anyway, the Roku offers a number of applications, some free and some not, to stream TV and movies using your existing internet connection. So, I decided to drop my inflated cable bill, and go with Netflix and Hulu. I'll probably drop one of them eventually, as I figure out what we like better, but for now, they're only $7.99 each, so it's not such a big thing, just yet.

On top of these channels, there are a number of other channels that are free, like US TV Now, Crackle and Nowhere TV. There's also CNN, ABC, NBC and other networks that offer free streaming on the Roku. To find more, check out the following links:
On top of all that, I also updated a couple of step-by-step drawing lessons I wrote on Squidoo, called How To Draw a Man's Face In 9-Steps and How To Draw a Woman's Face In 9-Steps. I've updated all of the images, using ones that I lined out in Inkscape, rather than sloppy pencil drawn images. Click the links to check them out.

You see, I like many people didn't understand anime for a very long time, and I felt the need to discover what it was really about. Along the way, I discovered that anime wasn't just one thing, it was a plethora of things, and once I identified the major genres of anime, I felt I needed to share my vast knowledge. Welcome to 2014, yo! I'm rocketing through the air as we speak in my auto driven flying car, ordering up some stuff on Amazon with my wi-fi connected brain, and just hoping your having as much fun in this futuristic utopian world, as I am. Oh wait, none of those things have happened, yet. I'm sitting in front of my slow antiquated computer, typing with my over-used fingers, and wishing you a wonderful New Year.
Anime Reviews
Anyway, Toonami finished up its month of movies with the amazing Trigun: Badlands Rumble. Over at Squidoo, I wrote a review, so go on ahead and check out Old West Has Nothing On Badlands Rumble. Starting next week, Toonami will have their regular schedule of shows, including the all new Space Dandy. The new schedule begins at Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 11:30PM, and you can check it out on Toonami's website.
The indie film industry online is booming. It seems that more and more great films are coming alive all the time. I've previously noted the existence of Black Flag TV, which is an independent TV station, broadcasting horror movies online. Now, I've come a cross a couple more, of note.
Porcelain Presence is a wild indie film studio working on an intense and suspenseful film concerning a porcelain doll in an average British neighborhood. It appears things get out of hand, but things are not always what they seem. If you like, check out the trailer for the movie on YouTube. It'll send a chill down your back.
ZOMB! the Movie is an independent zombie flick. It sounds pretty interesting concerning a tongue-in-cheek health awareness documentary on the threat of the zombie virus. It's a crowd funded film, and you can get more details on that on the website if you'd like to help support the film. They're offering some perks for any assistance.
Anime Streaming
I've come across a couple of sites that are great for streaming anime, if you're interested. Go ahead and check them both out.
The selection here isn't as great, but the stream is excellent for no cost. However, there is a premium membership that, I assume, will give you access to more.
It's been quiet lately, so I thought I'd post something. It hasn't been exactly quiet. I've been busy on a few things that I wanted to post, but none of them were big enough to warrant a post of their own, so here they are all together.
Also from Squidoo, here's my very first recipe, and more than likely my last. It's a quick and easy vegetarian alternative to the old burger and fries dinner, that has a bit of a spicy kick. If you feel the urge, try my Black Bean Burger and Butter Basil Potatoes, and let me know what you think.
And finally, many people who know me, know I doodle quite a bit, but what motivates my doodling the most, is the slim possibility of some day delivering on an animated series that's been ruminating in the back of my mind for some time. Well, let me introduce you to the main character of my series. Please, in all his glory, take a look at Sword Six, an elite special forces soldier, carrying some emotional baggage, but equipped for any terrain, including no terrain at all. So, as some may have heard, I recently did a lens on Squidoo on some of my art that I am extremely proud of. It was a move I considered to be fairly bold, as I am not an overly experienced artist (not that I consider myself to be an artist, but that's a discussion for another time.) However, it was a move I personally felt was necessary for my own growth. And don't you know I have been rewarded with a PURPLE STAR!
It's my second of these illustrious accolades on Squidoo, and I am very proud of each of them, but this one will hold a warm place in my heart, due to the personal nature of this particular lens.
It's a lens of six of, what I would consider, my best pieces of work, so far. I am super happy about it, and I would just like to thank everyone over at Squidoo who was responsible for giving me the pat on the back. Accolades are rarely necessary, but as always, I'm not about to turn this one down. So, thank you!
I've been having some great fun lately, having opened a store for my own t-shirts on Zazzle, which I hope everyone has taken a moment to check out. And if not, there's a new Zazzle widget to the right of this post, if you haven't already noticed. But the biggest thing is, I've put up my latest lens on Squidoo, and it's a gallery of all of my best drawings that I have posted on DeviantArt.
Go on to the Gallery to check it out. I'm very proud of what I have, but more importantly, I'm gaining a great deal of confidence.
I'm not just looking for the routine, hey that's great, anymore. I'm expecting to find those people that just don't like this or that, and the truth is, it doesn't concern me anymore. I'm seeing my flaws, but I'm seeing myself getting better all the time, so I'm kind of in a place where I feel like I can handle a little constructive criticism. Also, I've already received quite a bit from my family and friends. My wife can be down-right abusive at times. I was ready to call the cops one night, but I didn't want anyone to see me crying.
So, my gallery is up and ready to be torn to shreds by ruthless shards of criticism, or delicate feathers of praise. And if perhaps you'd like to buy something from either my DeviantArt page, or my Zazzle page, I won't stop you from doing that either. Feel free. It's a free country, isn't it?

I am a member of several different social media sites, and for the time being, the one that I have been most involved with has been Squidoo. However, everything that I've been doing is for the further promotion of my drawing. And the truth is, in a lot of ways, I've been feeling like a lot of what I've been doing has been just going around in circles, because all I really want to do is draw, and publish what I've drawn up on my DeviantArt page to show off, but that's exactly what I've been unable to do lately.
So, what's a guy to do?
Well, I'll tell you one thing I've noticed. Many people who are in my position, who have galleries on sites like DeviantArt, also seem to have store fronts on a site called Zazzle. I recently read a lot about it on another article on Squidoo, called Zazzle 101. So, you know what I decided to do? I opened my own store on Zazzle.
So far, I've designed four t-shirts with my drawings on them that I'm extremely proud of, and I have a few more on the way. I'm fairly excited by the idea of seeing what I've drawn on a t-shirt. So much so, that I'll likely buy at least one of them for myself, if not some for my friends, and family.
Either way, I'm feeling invigorated about my drawing again, and I've got a new lease on life. So, I'd love to see some visitors as soon as possible (hint, hint). I don't expect immediate sales, but a few critiques would be nice. Thanks so much in advance.

Streamline Your Comic Book Art
This is a book review of a Comic Book Art How-To book by Christopher Hart, who's made a living releasing book after book on drawing, and illustrations. This book in particular takes a crack at the streamlined looks of today's comics, and it was inspirational in my journey towards learning to draw.
Buckle-Up For the Redline Review
This is a Review of the Anime movie Redline, an exhilarating racing anime, which take the viewer on a wild ride from Yellow Line to Red Line, and beyond. There's jaw dropping action and some not so surprising plot twists. But it's the color and action that keep this movie moving.
The Original Fallout, Not for the Meek
It's a look back in time at the original Fallout game, that was released by Black Isles Studio back in 1997 that started it all. It's really a story of not just the game, but my friends, and I playing, and how much things have changed since then, but how, "War, war never changes..."
